Mayank’s Murder Mystery
Final
Jayant entered police station and so much was going
in his mind. He saw a person sitting opposite his chair. He was Mayank’s uncle,
Rambhau.
Jayant sighed and sat in his chiar.
“You know about Riya?”
Rambhau said, “Sir, Mayank had mentioned about Riya
few times. I too have a strong feeling that she could have killed him. Please
take my statement and file a case against her. We should not leave these
peoples in the society”.
Jayant looked at him in a manner that told him he
knows what has to be done and then asked, “Where were you when he at the time
of his death?”
“I was in Mumbai for the wedding ceremony of my
friend’s daughter. We are still not able to digest the fact”, his eyes turned
moist.
Jayant asked, “Please, tell me more about Mayank’s
early days with you and your family”.
“Mayank lost his parents when he was studying in 10th,
since then he had lived with us. We don’t have kids of our own, so we took care
of his like our son. He had an independent nature and didn’t want to depend on
us. So when he got his job he informed us that he decided to live on his own
and promised to visit us when he was free from job”.
“Is there any property left by the Mayank’s parents
for him?” Jayant asked.
Bhaurao mumbled and said, “Yes! But all the property
claim to Mayank on his 18th birthday”.
“Hmmm… anyway, thanks for coming. I’ll call you if I
need any more information”, Jayant stood and shook his hand.
“Certainly, Sir”, and Bhaurao left.
Jayant became busy in preparing FIR.
It was almost evening and it would too late, so he
went to home.
After dinner,
He started checking reports regarding Mayank’s call
details. He looked at the last page where the call and SMS details were given
on his last day.
He opened the diary to note down the sequence of the
events and started inserting the call details with the names from whom he got
call or SMS.
Friday 10:20 PM – SMS from Riya and saying “Hey,
where are you? Meet me”.
Friday 11:00 PM – Call from Bhaurao and spoke around
2 mins.
Friday 11:05 PM – SMS from Bhaurao and saying “Why
did you cut the call? Are you coming or not? I want your signature on few
documents”.
Friday 11:30 PM – Mayank left the pub.
Around 12:00 AM – He took the parcel from
Maharashtra Darbar.
Around 12:10 AM – Call from Bhaurao and spoke around
5 mins.
Around 12:25 AM – Missed call from Riya.
Around 12:30 AM – He dropped Shyam.
Around 12:40 AM – He met Riya.
Around 1:30 AM – He reached his home and called
Shyam.
As per postmortem reports, the death was due to
Arsenic. Arsenic is a rat poison. While going through the report… suddenly a
thought sparked in his mind. He took the case file and opened the page where
the crime scene photos were attached. He closely verified those photos and he
smirked.
Next morning,
In the police station, Nikam said “What is going on
sir? So many suspects are identified in Mayank’s case. Who is the real killer?”
“Call Riya, Shyam and Bhaurao immediately now”,
Jayant asked furiously.
Nikam and other constables went to seize all three
suspects and took them to police station.
Curious Nikam asked, “But sir who’s the killer?”
“Just wait and watch”, Jayant said confidently.
“So, Mr. Bhaurao you want signature of Mayank on
your documents, to take over his property. And for that you killed Mayank”.
“No sir, why I kill him? He was my boy. I want
signature only for the proper documentation of his property. Because on few
pages of documents his signs was missing”, Bhaurao started crying.
“Hmmm…Riya when you met Mayank that night, have you
observed anything”, Jayant asked.
“No sir, Mayank was normal. But… Yes, he had
something in his mouth and he was chewing”.
“So you gave him that, right?” Jayant asked Riya.
“No!!! We just talked that night”.
“Okay, Shyam you gave him that, because he was with
you. Hmm?”
“Why did I give him any chewing-gum?” Shyam said.
“But how you know it was a chewing-gum? I didn’t
mentioned anything”, Jayant smiled.
He slap Shyam and grab him on the chair.
“Now, tell me what actually happened bloody fucker”
“Nikam note down all the details”, Jayant said.
Shyam said in resentment,
“From past few months I didn’t like the Mayank’s
behavior. Every time he got attention in company and in colleagues. He also
very closed to my ex-girlfriend. Also, I started liking Riya, but he always
disrespect her and used bad language about her. And, now he starts flirting
with my sister also. So, I decided to kill him and end his chapter. I injected
Arsenic in the chewing-gum with syringe and when he dropped me at home that
night, I forcefully gave him chewing-gum. And, I killed this brat”.
“Nikam arrest this bloody bastard and file a
chargesheet against him”, Jayant said angrily.
